Advantage Pie and Play Tuesday 3 May

    Winner Jane

The Pie Eating Contest provided a stunning introduction to the Advantage Golf Croquet trial.

Sixteen contestants braved the chilly day and pitted their wits against the rigours of the Advantage Croquet scoring system.

Despite total bafflement, the sixteen warriors tackled each other with aplomb and produced some surprising results. All this, despite the handicaps, produced by massive consumption of quiches, pork pies and sausage rolls.

Betty did a sterling job keeping the score sheet and multi tasking in the kitchen.

Thank you to all the contestants and everyone who helped to make the day a great success.

Elms v Oaks EACF leagues 2022

Our EACF competitive season got underway on Tuesday 26th April with NCC Oaks playing NCC Elms.

Matches we’re played in cool, calm weather on lawns in superb condition.

We fielded two ‘debutants’ who played well and seemed to enjoy the occasion; well done to Rod and Trevor.

Fran kept us all in order, managing timings, order of play and scoring.

    Speaking of scoring… Oaks 12, Elms 6.

Enjoy the rest of the season teams!

    • Oaks on the left: Mat, Colin T, Anne and Trevor.
    • Elms on the right: Adrian, John, Roy and Rod.

    Season Opening Soup Lunch

The Summer '22 season got off to a tumultuous start with Operation Soup Lunch.

Record numbers of members attended and consumed around 40 pints of soup and numerous crusty baguettes. Most of the imbibers still managed to take part in the doubles games that followed in the glorious sunshine with play lasting until tea was served.

Many thanks to Glenys for overseeing the Operation and to all those who cooked the many and various soup concoctions. It was a great team effort with many members helping to serve, wash-up and shift furniture about.

It was also lovely to see many members who have only just come out of hibernation.

Operation Soup also added a nice fat sum of £160 to the club coffers.

    A fantastic effort all round.
