Newport v Ipswich Friday 3rd July
Score 2 16
Team: Roy Darling, Bob Leeds, Adrian Seabrook, Clive Cassidy
With two of our opponents playing off a handicap of -2 this was always
going to be a difficult fixture. However despite the few number of games

A similar pattern as the other fixtures this year. So many of the games were
very close the result could well have been a lot closer. The team continues
to develop.

As the teams were rained on all morning and there appeared to be no let up they decided to play on through lunch. The unrelenting rain did not dampen the spirits of the players but Newport were unsuccessful in their efforts

Roger Ivill Trophy Sunday 4 October
On a beautiful autumn day, eight members took part in the competition which was an internal club singles handicapped tournament.  The number was a disappointing especially as this was the last match of the season, however the competition was still intense.
Each competitior played every other competitor The final was between Maureen Goodchild and Helen Manley and was a closely fought match.  At the 12th hoop the score was 6 all so the match was decided at the 13th hoop – Maureen coming out the winner.

Such a fine weekend of weather and croquet brought the club's season to a close.

STRAWBERRY TEA  26 July

On Sunday the club held its annual social day of croquet play followed by a Strawberry Tea. Over 30 members and friends turned up but on this occasion the rain won out again despite a few hardy souls braving the weather to take to the lawns. The gorgeous tea provided by Jane Cowper and her helpers was a winner however with the competitive spirit being upheld by an informal quiz afterwards.
