win the EACF League Finals at Newport (GC)
Newport hosted
the EACF League semi-finals and finals at the weekend; in the final,
Watford defeated Enfield by the narrow margin of 10-8. A report can

21st August: Newport beat Colchester
12-6 (GC)
Newport's golf croquet
team beat Colchester convincingly to improve their record to two wins
and one loss in the EACF league.
11th August: Newport lost
to Colchester South 1-4 (AC)

24th July: Newport beat Bury
St. Edmunds 4-3 (AC)
Newport's record in
the Essex-Suffolk league improved to 2 wins out of 3, after a narrow

18th July: Handicap Tournament
Cancelled
Due to the small number
of entries, the CA Handicap Tournament scheduled for 4th and 5th August
has been cancelled.
24th June: David Parkins wins
B-Level Tournament
David Parkins, from the Medway club, won a damp Newport
B-Level tournament, winning all five of his games. Click

23rd June: Gold Award for Newport member
Mike Porter qualified for his gold merit award
from the Croquet Association today by completing his first competitive triple
peel, during the Newport B-Level tournament.
19th June: Newport beat Bury St.
Edmunds 11-7 (GC)
Newport bounced back from their
opening defeat in the EACF Central Area league with an 11-7 win at Bury St. Edmunds.
5th June: Newport
lost to Colchester North 2-3 (AC)
Newport lost narrowly at Colchester

lost to Letchworth 1-6 (AC)
Newport's
team in this year's Longman Cup went the same way as its Mary Rose entry,
losing in the first round to Letchworth. Click here

22nd May: Newport
lost to Colchester 2-5 (AC)
Newport exited this year's Mary Rose competition at the
first hurdle, with a 5-2 loss at Colchester.

13th May: Newport member wins
competition
The "croquet palindrome"
competition organised by Colin Hemming (Colchester CC) was won by Mike
Porter, for the following conversation between Trevor and his opponent, who
has not been paying attention during Trevor's break:
' "On rover, Trevor?"
"No." ' For this somewhat dubious effort, Mike was
rewarded with a bottle of "Croquet" aperitif.

In the first league match of the season, Newport's
Association Croqueters had a narrow victory over Ipswich.

lost to Sudbury 7-11 (GC)
Newport's Golf Croquet side lost their opening league
match to Sudbury.

league!
3rd May: GC Refereeing Course
A course for budding Golf Croquet referees will be held at Newport on 22nd August. Details of the

There are still places available
in all three of our CA Tournaments: the B-Level advanced weekend on 23-24
June; the Handicap weekend on 4-5 August; and the B-Level Golf Croquet tournament

6th April: Draws for National Club
Competitions
Newport have been drawn to face Colchester
in the second round of the Mary Rose; the winners will play Bury or Bowdon.
In the Longman Cup, Newport will play
Letchworth, with the winners to play Norwich.

On a glorious sunny day, the Newport lawns were
